Time speeds past. There is so much to do, so much information to gather. We can hardly manage to concentrate on one thing for a long period of time. Spanish choreographer Marina Mascarell closely examines our perception of time. The production is the first collaboration between Marina Mascarell and New York composer Chris Lancaster. On stage, dancers and Chris weave together the concept of time with a strong physical approach, creating a parallel world where the audience will have their own voice. They manipulate time by accelerating it, slowing it down and by stretching it. Dynamic and intense, The Unreality of Time offers an alternative for our relationship with time.

 Dance Forum Taipei
Dance Forum Taipei is the representative contemporary dance company in Taiwan. Through engaging different international choreographers, the Company acts as an open forum for these artists to come together and to present their ideas. DFT has made more than 700 performances since its inception in 1989, touring throughout Taiwan as well as abroad to Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Malaysia, New York, Amsterdam, Bern, Paris, etc. In the recent years, DFT has made several cross-country collaborations which strengthened the dancers’ skill physically and mentally. Dance Forum Taipei will keep devoting herself as a nurturing ground for both Taiwanese and international artists for the years to come.




Choreographer    Marina Mascarell
Marina used to worked for the Nederlands Dans Theater I and II. Marina was awarded a prize in Madrid, Spain for her achievements as a dancer as well as her work as a choreographer. Since 2011, she concentrates on her development as a choreographer under the guidance of Korzo Theater in Hague.




Composer    Chris Lancaster
Chris is an electro-acoustic cellist composer living in Brooklyn, New York. He trained as a classical cellist, but endeavors to expand the ideas of what a cello can be, and what sounds it can create. His compositions are performed live using a wide array of effects, samplers and speaker sculptures to create encompassing, cinematic and otherworldly sounds. He has composed extensively for concert Dance, Theater and Film, and his work has focused on live performance. Chris has been the music director and composer for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane dance company and the Staccato Contemporary Dance Company in Rio di Janeiro. He had the privilege to perform his music for President Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2010.

Artistic Director    PING, Heng
Ping is the founder and Artistic Director of Dance Forum Taipei and Crown Theatre. She holds an MA degree in Dance from New York University and is a certified Labanotation teacher. In 1984, she founded Taipei Dance Workshop, which provided professional training for dancers and performance space for young dance artists as well as experimental theater groups.  Ping is dedicated to the research and recording of Taiwan aboriginal dances and served as Dance Advisor for the Formosa Aboriginal Song and Dance Troupe. Because of her extraordinary achievement in dance field, Ping was awarded the Third National Arts Award, Taiwan. She is currently the professor in Dance College at TNUA.



The world premiere is co-produced by  Dance forum Taipei and  Korzo.
